We make sure your voice is heard
As soon as you enrol at University College Birmingham, whether you’re a college student or a University student, you automatically become a member of the Guild. Run by students, for students, the Guild is your students’ union and the home of student life at University College Birmingham.
You can make use of your Guild membership to enhance your time at University College Birmingham, and make the most of everything we have to offer.

We make a difference
We exist to make sure all students are heard on the issues that matter to them, giving you the opportunity to shape your course and your experience at University College Birmingham. There are a range of course-based societies available, and you can visit the Guild website to find out more about them and how you can join them. There are also opportunities to become a course rep and represent your classmates on issues that matter.
A real community
We want you to feel part of a real community at UCB. The Guild has a huge range of societies and clubs you can join, including our liberation societies like Disabled Students Society or Queer Society, or our interest societies like Musical Theatre or E-Sports.
Our groups cover social activities, interests, sports and campaigning so no matter what you’re interested in, there is something for you to get involved with. If you feel we're missing something you'd love to be part of, we can even support you to set up your own society.
Work while you study
If it's possible to give provide work to University College Birmingham students, we do. We do our best to make as many of our roles suitable for part-time student staff as possible, with students doing everything from running our cafés to processing our paperwork.
Hang out with friends
Want a place to hang out with friends in between lessons and attend fun events? Come along to the The Lounge! The Lounge is exclusively for UCB students and is based on the 3rd Floor of Summer Row. The space includes both an FE Lounge and a HE Lounge, and both offer comfortable sofas, and TVs where you can connect your phones to listen to some jams. The Lounge is open Monday to Friday 8am-8pm so you can drop in whenever you want to just chill out or attend one of our events, or you can book the space out for an event of your own.
