Gabi "so proud" after beating hundreds to a place on graduate scheme

Another student has proven that UCB degrees lead to stellar careers after landing a place on a sought after graduate scheme.

Gabi Le Roux gained a 1st class degree in Hospitality Business Management from UCB last year. She is now one of just 23 recruits, selected from across the country, to join BaxterStorey’s Momentum Graduate Programme.

The company is the UK’s leading independent independent hospitality provider. Its graduate programme received more than 350 applications this year.

Gabi, who came to UCB on a scholarship from Cape Peninsular University of Technology in South Africa, was initially approached by BaxterStorey after her impressive performance representing the University at a Passion4Hospitality debate, run by the Institute of Hospitality.

She will now experience all elements of the business over the next nine months – including spending time in the kitchen, front of house and within both hospitality and support services.

The 24-year-old said UCB provided the “bedrock” from which she could further her skills.  She added: “UCB appealed to me because I knew it had a long history of training and developing people for the hospitality industry, and I liked that it was outside London. The graduate programme has been full-on and an incredible experience. I’m so proud to be part of it, and to be representing the University.”

Graham Eveleigh, Head of Skills and Development at BaxterStorey, added: “The increasing popularity of our Momentum Graduate Programme is testament to the vast range of opportunities our young recruits are offered.”
