Success at ABST Awards

The annual conference of the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) has once again seen success for UCB students.
Each year bakery students from all over the UK meet at Alton Towers Resort to compete and build networks across the bakery industry in a fun environment.
This year UCB had a very successful year winning 13 competitions in bread, confectionary, cake decoration and sugar flowers; as well as winning lots of 2nd, 3rd and Highly Commended Awards.
Highlights this year were winning the Hovis Bread Competition which saw 350 entrants, the Celebration Cup Cake competition, The IREKS Cup - a first for UCB which will see winning student Ashley Groom travelling to Germany as part of his prize, and as a team The Founders Cup.
A great weekend was had by all and staff commented how the students who attended were a credit to University College Birmingham.
