A group of 2nd Year FDA Event Management students from University College Birmingham (UCB) have raised £1,097.80 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Cancer Centre Ward Appeal.

As part of their Live Events Project module, six students organised a fundraising day and a comedy & live music night to raise funds for the hospital’s new Cancer Centre.

Along with a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale and a ‘guess the name of the bear' fundraiser, the team organised their live event 'Chuckle for Children' which was held at St Patrick’s Club in Edgbaston, Birmingham.  The night featured comedians, including headliner Jamie Sutherland and singer, Jasmine Harper.

The night also featured a silent auction, with prizes including a night’s stay at a hotel, champagne, beauty sets and a signed Aston Villa FC football.

The fundraising group were: Matthew Thompson, Sophie Parkinson, Ryan Morris, Michelle McMenamin, Nathan Blair and Anna May (all pictured).

Events lecturer,

The group worked extremely hard throughout the twelve week planning process, overcoming a number of challenges along the way. Their hard work, commitment and professionalism was impressive and we are extremely proud of their achievements.

It has been a real pleasure to work with this incredibly professional group of students. They have put so much effort into their event to ensure its success, and we are thrilled that they also raised so much money for our Children’s Cancer Centre Appeal. We have been fortunate to work with FDA Event Management students on several occasions and are always impressed by their enthusiasm, commitment and sheer hard work. Thank you so much from everyone at the Children’s Hospital.
