Schwarzkopf Dream Makers award a day to remember

Read time: approx 1 mins

Top students from across HairdressingBeauty Therapy and Theatrical Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up courses have been named Schwarzkopf Dream Makers in a trailblazing award scheme put together by UCB and the leading haircare brand.

Taking place in UCB’s purpose-built studios, students were treated to professional photoshoots of make-up and hair looks they had created based on a theme of their own choosing.

Twelve students, selected as ‘students of the month’ by their lecturers, xwere named Schwarzkopf Dream Makers and awarded with a day of styling and professional photography in acknowledgment of their commitment, talent and positive attitude towards their work.

Experienced stylists from Schwarzkopf supported students all day as they perfected outfits, hair and make-up for their models in preparation for the shoot.

“It’s been a really enjoyable day,” said student Amy, who was put forward by her lecturer for the award due to the outstanding progress she had made on her course.

“I feel proud to have been selected and it’s a good thing for us to have taken part in,” added Amy’s classmate Lauren, while working on an eye-catching ‘prom night’ look to be captured by UCB’s in-house photographers.

“Today, we’re rewarding students who have made huge improvements to their work over the year,” said UCB lecturer and co-organiser for the event Sue Bedford.

“It’s always been really important, as hair and beauty students, to have good, professional photographs you can put into a portfolio to impress clients and future employers. But, in the age of social media, having great looking photos is more beneficial than ever before – as the whole world will get to see them.

“The Dream Makers Award has developed over the years not only to boost students’ portfolios but to give them an insight into working on a professional photoshoot using high-end products. They have to work as a team, keep to a brief and work all day with professional stylists to create a look they feel proud of. It’s a real confidence-boosting experience and a great reward for students who have worked so hard.”
