University College Birmingham was proud to host Stephen Pierce as its first CMI Companions on Campus speaker at UCB's 2017 European Business Conference coordinated by UCB academic staff Sian Williams and Gillian McCurdy.

Prior to his current role as Chief Human Resources Officer at Hitachi Europe, Mr Pierce has built an impressive background in business and human resources spanning 25 years, and has worked across a range of international roles in Europe, North America and Japan. Mr Pierce discussed the key skills which students should consider pre and post Brexit to support their employability to over 200 students and 20 academics, receiving high praise on the valuable advice and insight he was able to provide to students as they prepare to enter the workforce in a rapidly evolving economic landscape.

"This was an extremely successful and well attended event. Our students gained a great insight into the employability skills that they require as graduates. I look forward to next year’s event!"

Dilshad Sheikh Dean of The Business School
