Business Enterprise student Taylor combines studying with stardom

Read time: approx 1 mins

UCB Business Enterprise student Taylor Francis has built a highly successful fashion and beauty blog, attracting attention and sponsorship from some of the UK’s biggest brands.

Setting out as a blogger in 2014, Taylor relaunched her website early last year. The experience was a rapid learning curve and, just one year on, she has gained thousands of followers on social media and has clients ranging from Sure and Bioré to AX Paris and Missy Empire.

Starting her journey at UCB with a foundation degree in Beauty Therapy, Taylor is now topping-up her course to a full BA in Business Enterprise. She said it was this combination that provided her with the knowledge, skills and flexibility to turn her blog into a blossoming career.

“Working as a blogger while being a UCB beauty therapist and business management student have worked great together, as everything I learn I can incorporate somehow into my blog,” she said.

“My biggest achievement to date is definitely doing a sponsored campaign with UGG. It was a bit of a surreal moment - I remember begging my parents for a pair of them when I was young, so just to be gifted a pair from the brand was amazing, let alone work alongside them!”

Taylor is also keen to spread the benefits of blogging to fellow university students. Her posts are jam-packed with hints and tips on balancing work commitments, finding writing inspiration and snagging the perfect Instagram profile.

“The number one piece of advice I’d offer to UCB students wanting to get into blogging is to be yourself and be consistent,” she said.

“It’s completely fine to take inspiration from others, but make sure you make it your own. Blogging is a really fun thing to do and an amazing community to be a part of, so have fun with it and make the effort to reach out to other bloggers.”
