Food Science and Innovation Suite

Inspiring innovation for the future of food

Developed in response to industry demand, our Food Science and Innovation Suite is designed to help our students become multi-skilled graduates in menu and product development, food technology and nutrition.

Based in Summer Row, the groundbreaking suite is used by students on our food and chef courses linking the culinary arts with food science, nutrition and manufacturing.

Spread over 9,000 sq ft, our Food Science and Innovation Suite incorporates two specialist kitchens, a bespoke sensory evaluation room, a pilot plant for product development and other cutting-edge food science facilities – all designed to replicate the environments you could work in after you graduate.

Features of the suite:

  • Create It – Kitchen used for developing new food manufacturing concepts, with commercial-grade induction ranges, electric ovens and bain maries
  • Innovate It – Kitchen featuring the latest gas stoves, electric stoves and induction hobs for product testing, as well as an AGA and sensory laboratory
  • Analyse It – Food science laboratory for studying nutrition, food safety and food hygiene
  • Evaluate It – Quality assurance laboratory for studying physical properties of food
