Reverse mentoring

Using your experience to shape recruitment

Reverse mentoring is your chance to influence the region’s business community and build a more diverse workplace for local students and graduates like you.

In reverse mentoring, the power position is switched and you get to guide the business.

Mentoring staff member such as hiring managers, talent acquisition managers or directors, you are able to give insight, feedback, support and advice on what you think about their current graduate recruitment practices. How they could target students to future proof their workforce.

The ultimate aim is to help organisations gain insight into the mind-sets and experiences of students and graduates from the local area. So they can attract a wider, diverse range of graduates from under-represented groups.

"I was able to completely understand all my options in order to gain work experience and job opportunities. I was also glad I got involved because I got the chance to get unique work experience doing reverse mentoring with Birmingham City Council."
