Earning herself a first-class degree, Natalie not only went on to win a position with a leading leavening agent producer, but was honoured with one of the highest industry accolades.
Taken on as a bakery technologist by Kudos Blends when she completed her course, Natalie was hailed top student in the UK by the Worshipful Company of Bakers on graduation.
During her time at University College Birmingham, Natalie also won a bumper haul of awards from the Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees, making the most of the additional opportunities the University supported her with.
Moving up from Level 2 and 3 in Bakery, she said having a degree with an emphasis on the science behind baking was desired by many employers.
“When they see this on your CV or on LinkedIn, it really sets you apart,” said Natalie, who did her course placement in Marseille in France.
“One of the best things about my degree was the amount of modules that opened my eyes to the different career paths I could go down. Also, there was a fantastic amount of practical work, which showed me how much I could enjoy different elements of bakery, not just what I already knew.”
