"I’m inspired every day by my students, and especially by some of my Access students who had a difficult start in life and went on to achieve great things."

I specialise in Leadership and Management, and I’ve held management roles for a private training provider and as a programme manager in further education (FE). I have experience improving the overall delivery of courses, which involved working with senior management to discuss retention, targets and achievements. I’ve also delivered a range of higher education (HE) courses, and I have experience teaching professional qualifications for the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management). I’m an AQA examiner for A-level Business Studies and an internal moderator for Access and HND programmes.
I teach on our Access to Higher Education in Business course and our BTEC National Diploma in Business, where I help students build practical skills for their future careers. My professional experiences allow me to share the realities of working in business and management with my students.

I’m constantly challenging the idea that our industry is just “common sense” or easy. In fact, it’s a complex subject area and a solid foundation for further studies in law and finance.
I’m inspired every day by my students, and especially by some of my Access students who had a difficult start in life - some of them were homeless when they started their course, and went on to land great careers and build stable family lives.
I was drawn to teach at UCB because of its top facilities, and the fact that we have FE, HE and sixth form in one place. My students tell me that they appreciate the relatable content I share in my classes, and my clear delivery style. My advice to students is to start day one with a professional mindset - bring the same discipline and expectations you’d have when starting a new job.
In my spare time, I volunteer every Saturday for two charities and I’m also passionate about gardening.
