Health, Social Care and Childcare progression event a resounding success

Read time: approx 1 mins

A recruitment event was held in the hired@UCB suite to show students on UCB’s Health and Social Care and Childcare courses what opportunities await them after graduation.

The event was open to students studying college courses, apprenticeships and undergraduate degrees. Students in their final year of study were able to see the variety of career pathways and graduate schemes available, whilst first and second year students had the chance to speak to people about potential opportunities and how to develop their practical experiences by networking with industry professionals.

Attending the event were various recruiters advertising employment opportunities in social care and education such as care and classroom assistants or Specialist Educational Needs (SEN) workers as well as opportunities to work with very young children in crèches and nurseries.

Representatives from universities such as Worcester, Cardiff and Birmingham City University spoke to students about their courses. There were also stands for organisations such as Cultural Care, who were raising student awareness of au pair opportunities in the USA.

This event has been happening for a number of years, but using the new venue of hired@UCB this year has proved to be a great success – it made use of an excellent employment facility. Staff, students and exhibitors all commented on the positive atmosphere and how well the exhibition flowed. The exhibitors always comment upon the high calibre of our students and that is why so many of them come back year after year. The students gained a positive insight into a range of diverse opportunities that they may not have previously considered and I work hard to try to ensure that there are always opportunities for everyone.
