Dream Makers take their talent to the Schwarzkopf Academy

Read time: approx 1 mins

UCB’s Dream Makers travelled to the Schwarzkopf London Academy to work alongside top stylists and create their own unique looks for a glossy photo shoot.

The Dream Makers, consisting of UCB Hairdressing and Theatrical Make-up students, spent a day in the salon applying their skills and techniques to models: styling their hair, planning their make-up and selecting their outfits to create a variety of stunning looks that ranged from the swinging 60s to timeless elegance, festival superstars and snow queens.

For the photo shoot, the students were able to choose their backdrops, lighting and model poses, personalising their photographs to the last detail.

Level 3 Hairdressing student Winona Anderson selected two very different looks for her photo shoot. “I chose a flowing, floral theme for my first look, using loose curls and headdresses. The second was more of an edgy, rock look with ripped clothes and up-styled hair.”

Jemma Cashmore, who is studying an Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing, said: “Being able to work in the Schwarzkopf salons was a fantastic opportunity. I was really pleased with the styles I created and the photographs look amazing.”

Students will be able to use the photographs in their style portfolios, enabling them to demonstrate their high level of ability and creativity to potential employers.

"This is the first time we’ve done something like this and it’s been a huge success. Getting experience of working in a high profile hair studio and having professional photos already in their portfolio will really help our students stand out in their future careers."
