As an award-winning and accomplished Access to Higher Education Diploma lecturer, Supinder understands the unique needs of adult learners – and has helped thousands to succeed.

Helping learners develop their potential has been a key theme of his career. Formerly a Royal Navy Deputy Weapons Engineering Officer, Supinder helped develop recruits with bespoke training programmes and pastoral support, cultivating a strong sense of dedication, problem-solving and attention to detail which he now brings to his role as a lecturer at University College Birmingham.

Winner of a Beacon Award for Teaching and Innovation, and with several degrees and professional qualifications, Supinder has taught and managed a variety of Access to Higher Education Diploma courses, with expertise in a broad range of health and science subjects from radiology to biochemistry.

“The Access to Higher Education Diploma has been designed to give students relevant academic subject knowledge and the opportunity to learn how to approach study at university level and develop techniques to help them succeed,” he said.

“Our Access to Higher Education Diploma programmes at University College Birmingham change lives. I have seen first-hand the opportunity the course affords adults to enable them to progress onto university and achieve the career and life of their dreams.”
