Gemma Kirby

I currently hold the position of Associate Lecturer in Education, teaching on the Early Childhood Studies, Childhood and Education Studies and Primary Education Studies programmes.

Prior to this, I was employed as a Nursery Manager in an urban area of Birmingham. I began my career as an apprentice and worked my way up to the management position over a period of 14 years. During this time, I achieved many qualifications, beginning with a foundation degree in Early Years. During my time in Early Years I have also held the positions of Pre-School Teacher, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator.

I am currently undertaking a PG Cert in Higher Education and a Masters in Psychology of Mental Health and Wellbeing as I strongly feel that the disciplines of Early Years, education and psychology are so closely interlinked.
