UCB Students Support Marathon Runners

Read time: approx 1 mins

Sports Therapy students from UCB once again supported runners at the Virgin London Marathon.

Providing post event massage, active recovery advice, stretching and remedial soft tissue techniques for runners who took part in the challenge raising funds for 15 different charities.

Charities supported included World Cancer Research Fund, Action for Kids, Save the Rhino, Sue Ryder and Mind; and students were kept busy treating exhausted limbs all day.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the students who helped at our post-race reception. As I was running myself this year I experienced first-hand a massage and it was fantastic; extremely professional and friendly.

Lucy Duxbury, Fundraising and Community Events Officer at Action for Kids

We are extremely proud of the effort and professionalism demonstrated by all of our students who supported the London Marathon. Many of them worked in difficult conditions to provide a highly effective and comprehensive recovery session for the runner.

Mark Godwin, Sports Therapy lecturer

Sports Therapy students attend a number of events throughout the year including Birmingham Half Marathon, Iron Man, Jitsu Nationals, Shropshire Triathalon, Ride Across Britain and new this year the London Revolution Event and Race to the Stones.
