Theatrical make-up students style their way to success

Read time: approx 1 mins

UCB Level 3 Theatrical Make-up students wowed judges with their skills and creativity in both the regional and national finals for trainees in the UK held by the AHT (Association of Hairdressers & Therapists).

On 11 February UCB lecturers Michelle Beddall and Eileen Woodward took 11 students to Bedworth Civic Hall to compete against other institutions in hair and make-up competitions, including face painting, bridal hair and make-up, and 1950s make-up.

Their talents were award-winning, with Chelsea Stevens and Chloe Wagstaff coming second and third in the face painting competition and Emily Rayworth and Nafisa Naderi winning third in bridal hair and make-up. In the 1950s make-up section, Emily Grosvenor secured second place.

Their achievements meant that they were invited to attend the national finals at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool to take part in another round of competitions held on 16 and 17 March.

The nationals meant yet more success for the UCB students as they once again demonstrated their award-winning skills. Chelsea Stevens achieved second place again in the face painting competition and Emily Grosvenor came fourth in the 1950s make-up heats. In the African hair-type ladies styling section, Didi Gouthon Koufeidji was awarded second place.

All students competing on the day worked to a very high standard and we are very proud of them all.
