Theatrical Make-up students showcase their style

Read time: approx 1 mins

Level 3 Theatrical Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up students gave models a make-over and wowed the audience at a recent fashion show.

As part of a course project, students were asked to create two completely different looks to send down the catwalk and show off their skills.

For the first look, they were asked to choose between two themes: ‘Avant Garde’, incorporating high fashion styles using wire and postiche and technical skill, or ‘Carnival’, inspired by dramatic and brightly-coloured looks that demonstrate imagination and creativity.

The second look was to be taken from the theme ‘A Night at the Movies’, where small groups of students decided on a movie or a genre of film in which to base their designs. The students decided on a range of themes such as Twisted Disney, Moulin Rouge, Peter Pan, The Purge, The Hunger Games and Batman Villains.

For every ticket that was sold to attend the show, the students chose to donate half of the ticket money to the Alzheimer Society, raising £158 for the charity.

The fashion show also featured performances from the Adage dance studio and music performed by local artists.
