Students Celebrate Competition Success

Read time: approx 1 mins

UCB hairdressing and Theatrical Special Effects Hair and Media Make-up students travelled to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool to compete in the UK trainee finals of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT).

To get to the prestigious Blackpool finals students first had to get through the local heat held in Bedworth, Warwickshire and UCB Staff Janet Dancer, Pia Dimmer and Michelle Beddall mentored the students in the run up to the events.

Five students secured a place in the Blackpool finals, where trainees from 49 colleges from all over the UK went to compete and to demonstrate and share their skills. The students who made the journey were Natasha Gaynor, Alliesse Farrelly, Sabina Yunosova, Lian Baxter and Zaneta Swiatlowska.

UCB students entered the Gents and ladies progressive categories along with avant-garde facial make-up and ladies alternative African Caribbean and walked away with a first place for Sabina and Alliesse and a second place for Taneca.

Well done to all of the students who travelled to Blackpool and the staff who gave up their time to mentor them – everyone is looking forward to next year’s competition already!
