'Love Food, Hate Waste' UCB student challenge 2015

UCB is calling for students across the university to showcase their culinary creativity when working with leftover food and minimising wastage by participating in the ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ challenge.
In order to enter the challenge, you must compile recipes of bite-size finger food (both savoury and sweet) utilising a selection of typical leftover ingredients such as potatoes, milk, chicken, vegetable trimmings and fruit (you can also use staple items such as eggs, flour, sugar and spices). The full list of ingredients is included in the entry specification, which you can access below.
The first stage of the competition is paper-based and recipes must be word-processed and professionally presented.
When selecting entries to take through the final cook-off, judges will be looking for competitors that use all of the ingredients specified for the challenge whilst showing creative flair, originality and quality. This is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate your talent and technical skills whilst considering flavour, texture, colour and aroma.
The participants with the best proposed recipes will be invited into the UCB kitchens to showcase their culinary creations. All ingredients, cooking equipment and utensils will be provided by the University.
This competition is open to all UCB students, whether they are studying at college level, undergraduate or postgraduate. So, if you think you have what it takes to make impressive finger food from a variety of ingredients, come and show us your techniques.
The winner of this competition will receive a trophy declaring them ‘Love Food, Hate Waste’ UCB Student Chef of the Year 2015 and a ‘Meal Experience’ for two in our fine-dining restaurant.
The closing date for all written entries is Friday 24th April. Please email your entry forms and recipes to firstname.lastname@example.org. All successful applications will be notified by Friday 1st May and invited to the final cook-off on Friday 29th May.
