Ivan Cobb becomes UCB boxing coach

As of September this year, National boxing coach Ivan Cobb will be joining the UCB Boxing Academy as Head Coach and assessor. 

With well over 100 amateur boxing bouts under his belt as well as winning national titles and boxing for England, Cobb has been coaching since his retirement. Ricky Hatton and Herbie Hide have come under his guidance in this time in addition to many age group champions. 

He currently holds an ABA Level 4 Coaching award and an AIBA Coaching award. He has been a Regional Coach for Eastern Counties as has worked with many England squads over the years and entered competitions around the world. 

In addition Ivan is currently a Performance Coach with the GB boxing team, working with not only the podium boxers, but potential podium boxers and those with emerging talent in the sport. In addition to this, he still works at a grass roots level with local clubs. 

Ivan will be working with UCB’s AASE boxers in addition to teaching on the Performance and Excellence BTEC and assessing on the NVQ in Achieving excellence in sporting performance. 

The UCB Boxing Academy, the only AASE facility for boxing in the West Midlands, will take in its first recruits, aged 16 to 18, in September and is open to male and female athletes. Boxers will train four times a week and receive specialist instruction in fitness, technique, strength and conditioning, sparring, sports therapy and rehabilitation.
