Inspire 2013

Read time: approx 1 mins

Inspire 2013 has once again left students and staff at UCB with smiles on their faces and plenty of food for thought.  The annual conference was set up to share inspirational stories, activities and events across the whole of UCB.

Inspire 2013 featured students expedition stories from the Adventure Tourism Management final years, tales from behind the scenes at hairdressing competitions and Events Management students experiences of fitting in 360 hours of Professional Events Practice into their time at UCB.

Students from Hospitality and Bakery programmes were also on hand showing the skills that have won them numerous prizes throughout the year and Theatrical and Media Make-up students showed the particular skills they have built up, making prosthetic limbs for British Transport Police disaster training.

UCB's Vice-Chancellor & Principal, Professor Ray Linforth, opened the event  and was followed by Chef Lecturer Mat Shropshall, who as well as being an inspirational lecturer has completed in competitions and promotions all over the world.

Highlight of the event was guest speaker Raymond Mfon, a 21 year old student who started his company 'Happy Chap Clothing' in his second year of university and who before he's even graduated has built a brand which includes the singer Ed Sheeran amongst its fans, whilst spreading the #BeHappy message across the world.

Another inspiring day at University College Birmingham and thanks to all those students and staff who took part and supported the event.
