A UCB BA Sports Management student has played at the home of English rugby – Twickenham.

Hannah Haywood, who is also Sutton Coldfield RFC ladies’ captain and coach, starred in a Touch 7s tournament.

For the last year, Hannah has been working on bringing her local ladies’ rugby team back to life. Her endeavours have earned her a lot of support from her home town, and she has become well known within the Rugby Football Union (RFU) Midland set-up.

Hannah says, “I got the chance to play at Twickenham through my Level 2 Coaching qualification that I did at the start of the year. The chance to play there is every rugby players dream.

“As a result of my coaching qualification, and my involvement in the sport, I’ve also had the opportunity to meet some great people such as Will Greenwood (a member of the 2003 World Cup-winning squad), build a successful team of ladies down at the Sutton Rugby Club, become a first-team touch judge, and host tournaments for the RFU.

“All of this has come from hard work and dedication to the sport. My biggest reward so far is definitely playing at Twickenham – I was so excited to finally be allowed on the sacred ground that will hold the World Cup final next year.”
