UCB has been nominated for Hairdressing College of the Year in the National Hairdressers’ Federation Awards 2014 (Central England).

UCB was nominated by Hairdressing students as ‘College of the Year’ and, due to the students’ positive response, has successfully made the shortlist alongside four other institutions.

Students have also nominated three lecturers from the school of sports and creative services for the category of ‘Hairdressing Lecturer of the Year’: Waqqas Abdul, Ros Davis, and protocol member of staff Chloe Lutwyche.

The award ceremony will be held at Edgbaston Stadium on Monday 19th May.

UCB’s past winners in the NHF Awards include Carole Moore (Lecturer of the Year, 2012), Rhianna Younis (Student of the Year, 2011), and Nariko Nagase (Most Promising Newcomer, 2011).

Helen Scanlon, UCB’s Hair and Beauty Placement Tutor, said “Alongside our other nominations, we have several contestants from our Level 3 Hairdressing students who will showcase their skills at the award ceremony in May. The NHF hope to scout for some aspiring hairdressers for the Central England Team, and they will make their decisions on the evening of the ceremony.

“We now need your vote for the nominees, as it will be great to build on our previous successes.”
