One of University College Birmingham's lecturers will be giving a keynote speech at a campaign event for Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) this week.

Criminologist and Working With Gangs Programme Leader Craig Pinkney will share his insights on empowering communities at the Leadership Without Borders event, which will take place at UCB on Friday 15 March.

Craig, who teaches within UCB's School of Education, Health and Community, is one of the UK's leading experts in tackling gang crime and serious youth violence. He has more than 14 years of experience as an outreach worker, gang exit strategist, mediator, mentor and filmmaker.

Friday’s event forms part of GBCC's month-long Growth Through People campaign, a series of events, workshops and training sessions seeking to improve leadership and people management skills.

Leadership Without Borders will aim to help delegates build up skills in managing and leading groups with different backgrounds or needs, challenging them to explore new perspectives and develop practical skills on managing diverse teams through a series of workshops with expert practitioners.

The workshops will focus on diversity strategies and activities, helping leaders to work across cultural boundaries, working in a modern global business environment and how employers can benefit from supporting employees with disabilities.

Leadership Without Borders is free to attend and takes place at McIntyre House between 7.30am and 10.30am. For more information and to book a place at the event, please click here.
