Freshers students have a ball at Great Guild Photo Hunt

Read time: approx 1 mins

Over 30 new UCB students from across HE and FE took part in a photo treasure hunt today organised by the University’s Guild of Students and Health and Wellbeing Team.

Split into small groups of four, students were given a set of riddles leading them to different locations in Birmingham. Once our very own Brummie Private Eyes had solved the riddle, they had to take a selfie at the location and upload it to Facebook with the hashtag #TheGreatGuildPhotoHunt. The more riddles solved, the more points there were to be won.

Making their way across well-trodden routes through the city, as well as between all three UCB campuses and two halls of residence, the aim of the hunt was to help Freshers get to know the area, make some friends, and have a lot of fun (as well as a few wrong turns) along the way.

“The event bought new students of all ages together – something they might not otherwise have the chance to do,” said Sam Cooke, Student Services Officer.

“They got stuck in, taking plenty of funny photos, seing lots of Birmingham sites and landmarks and generally having a great time while getting to know the city and each other. Overall the day was a huge success.”

The photo hunt is just one small part of the action-packed programme of activities the Guild of Students and Health and Wellbeing team have organised for new students over two weeks. Up next? The Guild’s very own ‘BIG NIGHT IN’, where new students come dressed in their onesies for a night of films, popcorn and relaxation in the new Guild Space at the Maltings halls of residence. After a day like this, we think they might need it!
