Enterprise Rent-A-Car hails UCB partnership as student applicant success grows

Read time: approx 1 mins

A leading international car rental firm has reported a rise in the number of University College Birmingham students progressing through their application process – thanks to a flourishing partnership with UCB.

Figures released by Enterprise Rent-A-Car show 47 students from the University were selected by the firm for phone interviews in 2018/19, up from 35 in the previous year.

There was also an increase in the number of applicants being invited for a branch visit as well as attending the final assessment centre stage of the interview process.

The rise is in no small part down to growing connections between Enterprise and UCB. The company has attended careers fairs at the University while students have been invited to fast-track sessions, enabling them to bypass the phone interview stage and meet the firm's hiring manager on campus.

Students also had the chance to learn more about the company as part of a workshop held at Summer Row last month. Organised by staff from hired@UCB, the #StandOutFromTheCrowd session was delivered by Christopher Smith, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Hailing the firm’s links with the University, Christopher said the partnership provided benefits for both parties.

"Due to our great working connections with University College Birmingham, we have had some great talent coming into our business at Enterprise Rent-A-Car," said Chris.

"This has helped us reach our business goals from customer service to growth, allowing us to become a complete mobility provider.

"We are really looking forward to the future, the talent we are getting into the business and the connection we have with UCB – and long may this continue."

Sabath Shazia, Employer Engagement Officer at hired@UCB, said: "It has been a great experience building the link and long-term relationship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car these last few years.

"We have increased the number of activities on campus year on year, including more workshops and on-campus interviews which have proven to work well. We look forward to placing more of our students in to the organisation."
