Bocuse d'Or Team set to go

Read time: approx 1 mins

Everyone at UCB wishes the very best of luck to Adam Bennett and his team when they take part in the prestigious Bocuse d’Or competition next Wednesday 30 January in Lyon. Adam will be representing the UK with his commis chef, Kristian Curtis, and competing against twenty four teams. They are competing straight after the French team and will then be followed by team USA.

Thanks to the generous support of his employer, Andreas Antona of Simpsons, Adam has spent the past four months focussing on preparations for the competition in the specially built Bocuse d’Or replica kitchen at UCB.

A team of UCB chef students will be travelling to Lyon with Adam and Kristian to support the preparations.

We had a great result in the semi final in Brussels with the meat prize and sixth place and whilst I' am happy with my dishes we cannot underestimate the candidates from countries which have experienced winning. The rules have been changed for 2013 which should level out the playing field but this also means that we are even less certain of what the judges will be looking for. Whatever the result, taking part in the Bocuse d'Or has been a fantastic experience and 'd recommend it to any chef who enjoys competitions.

Adam Bennett

It has been a great experience for our students and staff to watch Adam and his team prepare for the competition. Adam is a dedicated and highly skilled chef and a real inspiration to our students and we are delighted to have supported him on his journey to the Bocuse d'Or. We wish him the very best of luck and look forward to him doing the UK proud as the competition finally unfolds.
