We’re looking forward to welcoming you to the University this September and hope that the preparation for your studies is going well. We’re aware that there has been some media coverage internationally of a number of isolated incidents which took place last week in other parts of the UK. There was one limited incident which was resolved quickly in Birmingham.
The University was not directly impacted in any way by these incidents, which the police and the court system have dealt with swiftly and effectively, resulting in a much calmer environment across the country.
The disruptive events which occurred elsewhere in the UK were linked to an emotive, ongoing court case on Merseyside. They were not linked at all to international students, to whom the new government have re-affirmed their commitment through the maintenance of the Graduate Immigration Route.
The University is immensely proud of its international student community, and of being a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive, irrespective of background. We are delighted you’ve chosen us as your education provider and, as ever, if you feel you need advice or support about any aspect of your imminent move to the UK, our dedicated International Team are always available to assist you.
The support we provide our international students is consistently rated as outstanding and saw the University win the International award in the 2023 Whatuni Student Choice Awards, an award voted for entirely by our students.
