University College Birmingham today enthusiastically welcomed the government’s announcement that it is expanding apprenticeship opportunities, which could mean as many as 10,000 more apprentices per year will be able to complete their apprenticeship.
The initiative, which comes into effect immediately, will widen participation, and help to create accessible pathways to higher education and career development for learners from all backgrounds.
The University’s successful apprenticeship programmes combine the dual advantages of practical workplace training with knowledge and academic skills, ensuring comprehensive student development tailored to both their needs and those of our industry partners.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with our commitment to addressing critical skills gaps across Birmingham and the West Midlands,” said Dr David Paulson, Executive Dean of the Business School.
“It will allow faster, more responsive support to the needs of industry, and greater opportunity for students.”
University College Birmingham will be hosting an Apprenticeships Information Evening for employers and prospective apprentices on Tuesday 4 March from 5.30 to 7.00pm.
