How to apply

Undergraduate application process

Applying for September 2026?

If you are looking to apply for one of our undergraduate courses at University College Birmingham for September 2026, we are now accepting applications through Clearing.

If you are a UK/home student, please apply through Clearing, whether you have already applied through UCAS this cycle or are applying now. If you are an international student, you can still apply through our usual routes, either by applying directly to us or through UCAS.

We also believe nothing should stand in the way of you reaching your potential. If you have experienced difficult life circumstances, we offer different entry criteria through our Contextual Offer Scheme.

If you are currently studying one of our Level 3 college courses and wish to progress onto one of our university courses, please visit our Move Up To Uni page to apply.

Applying direct

If you do not currently have a live UCAS application for this cycle, you can apply to University College Birmingham directly through Clearing.

This route is simple, free of charge and does not require you to submit a new UCAS application yourself. Our Admissions team will review your details and explain the next steps if we are able to offer you a place.

If you already have a live UCAS application, please refer to the Applying through UCAS section for guidance on what to do next.

Applying through UCAS

If you already have a live UCAS application for this cycle, you should check which courses are available through Clearing and contact our Clearing team before adding a choice in UCAS.

Our Admissions team can advise you on course availability, entry requirements and whether we may be able to offer you a place. If we make you an offer and you decide to accept it, you will be advised on how to add your chosen course to your UCAS application.

Application fees

To submit your UCAS application you will need to pay an application fee of £28.95 for up to five choices for 2026 entry.

When to apply

For September 2026 entry, the official UCAS undergraduate application deadline for UK applicants to be guaranteed equal consideration was 14 January 2026.

University College Birmingham can still consider applications after this date. As we are now in the Clearing period, UK/home students applying for September 2026 should apply through Clearing. This includes students applying now, changing their plans or looking for a different course or university.

International students can continue to apply through the usual routes, either by applying directly to us or through UCAS.

Contextual offers

Through our Contextual Offer scheme, our inclusive admissions initiative to break down barriers to higher education, we could offer you a place even if you have lower grades than our usual entry requirements.

Taking a gap year

University College Birmingham welcomes applications from people who are planning to take a gap year before starting their course. We are pleased to consider applications during the admissions cycle for deferred entry. If you are accepted, the conditions of your offer must be satisfied by the 31st August in your application year.
