As a member of our community, you can access a range of benefits and support to help you achieve your career and personal goals
HIRED
Our Careers and Employability Service - HIRED, is here to support you for up to five years after graduation. They can help you with the following:
- Support with CVs, Cover Letters and Applications
- Information for job searching and useful careers websites
- Access to practice psychometric tests (Hired Connect)
- Notification of recruitment fairs and employer presentations
- Notifications of roles through Hired Connect and email.
HIRED Connect
Hired Connect is an online employability portal you will also have access to. To access the Hired portal after graduation, follow these steps:
- Click on this link and select register
- Register for your alumni account with a personal email address that you have access too
- Once you have registered it can then take up to three working days for your account to be approved
- Once your alumni account has been approved you will have access to the Hired Connect Portal for 5 years after graduating

Entrepreneurial Support
If you're thinking of starting your own business, we can help! As an alumni of University College Birmingham you have access to entrepreneurial support for five years after graduation through our Enterprise Hub. Our Enterprise Hub team can offer support for business start-ups, which includes advice and guidance on starting your business, accessing funding and key skills sessions. Gym membership
As an alumnus, you can enjoy discounted access to the state-of-the-art gym at Moss House. For only £120 per year, you can stay fit and healthy with our top-quality equipment. Find out more about our gym.
Unlock your career potential with HLSM Plus
Higher Level Skills Match Plus (HLSM Plus) is a free service helping graduates across all of Birmingham secure high-quality relevant roles.
Our service includes:
- Personalised Careers Support: Work with your own Graduate Consultant to explore your goals and build your career pathway.
- Job Matching: We can help you with securing relevant experience, work experience opportunities and graduate-level jobs.
- Application and Interview Prep: Boost your chances of success with expert CV advice, job searching tips, and interview coaching.
- Skills Workshops and Events: Join practical skills workshops to increase your employability and attend ‘Ask the Employer’ sessions to get real insights directly from recruiters.
- Ongoing Career Support: Access to support and continued careers advice for up to 12 months in your new role

- You graduated from university in the last three years

Supporting you to secure graduate level employment
The Higher Level Skills Match (HLSM) Plus service will provide you with access to a personal Graduate Consultant who will support you in securing a graduate-level job role.
We will understand what roles you are looking for and provide a recruitment-style service to source vacancies that suit your needs. We will take care of the interview arrangements and support you with the right level of job and interview preparation to give you the best chance of success.
