“I bring over a decade of beauty business ownership and advanced aesthetics management, blending practical experience with leadership and innovation to prepare students for our fast-evolving industry.”

At the core of my teaching at UCB is a blend of practical skills and theory, especially in leadership within the beauty and aesthetics sector. With a decade of experience owning and managing my own beauty and makeup business, plus seven years in aesthetics and clinic management, I’ve led teams across multiple locations and built businesses from the ground up. This real-world experience shapes how I teach, as I make sure to emphasise the direct connection between what we learn in the classroom and what happens in the workplace.

My background in laser hair removal (I have up-to-date Laser Core of Knowledge), skin rejuvenation, chemical peels, business management, and social media marketing gives me a broad perspective on the industry. I’m passionate about making complex ideas accessible and helping students build confidence in their abilities. I want them to leave UCB not just with technical skills, but with the mindset to lead, innovate, and adapt in a fast-changing field. I’m also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

One myth I often hear is that the only career options for Aesthetics students involve giving treatments in clinic. While that’s certainly part of the job, our graduates also go on to be leaders, innovators and skilled business owners with a solid knowledge of the science behind our practices. Also, I like to remind prospective students that our courses focus on non-invasive aesthetics, rather than injectables.

I’m constantly inspired by the chance to help people grow in confidence and realise their potential. Working with diverse student groups, I focus on creating environments where everyone feels seen and valued. The inclusivity and support I experienced as a UCB student myself drive me to offer the same to others. I love being part of a community that values both practical and academic skills, and I take pride in shaping a curriculum that reflects what the industry actually needs. What stays with me most is seeing learners who didn’t believe in themselves go on to achieve things they never imagined. I’m also proud of the work I’ve done behind the scenes to open doors for students through curriculum development and industry engagement.

Students tell me that they appreciate my approachability, relatability, and the way I connect with them. When the going gets tough, I encourage my students to keep going and aim high.

Outside work, I enjoy reading, shopping, and discovering cute cafes. I’m learning to crochet and listen to the Jay Shetty podcast for inspiration. Finally, a couple of fun facts about me - I speak four languages (Urdu, Mirpuri, Punjabi and English) and I used to work in healthcare (15 years in the NHS) before changing career and moving into aesthetics and teaching.
