"I am passionate about supporting students as they grow academically and personally, helping them build the skills and confidence to think critically, collaborate across cultures, and succeed in global careers."

I teach on our HE Business Management, Business Enterprise, Business Management and International Business Management courses, and my interests lie across the fields of strategic planning, human resource management, and cross-cultural management.

Before moving into academia, I held a managerial role leading ODM projects with international technology firms. In my academic career, I have worked as Deputy Academic Principal at a higher education institution, supporting three successful QAA inspections with outstanding outcomes. My responsibilities have included curriculum development, maintaining academic standards, and fostering relationships with partner universities and accreditation bodies to support the institution’s goals.

The knowledge and experience I gained from working on consultancy projects offer valuable insights into real business operations and strategic decision-making. These insights benefit my students and help them develop the essential skills needed for their future careers. I also incorporate my industry experience to present real business examples, which enhance students' understanding of theoretical concepts.

I am deeply inspired by the dynamic intersection of strategy, people, and culture within global contexts. My research and teaching are driven by a keen interest in how carefully crafted strategic planning and robust HR practices enable organisations to achieve global success while fostering cultural diversity, and I am fascinated by the complexities of managing multicultural teams, aligning global strategies with local realities, and developing inclusive leadership approaches.

A common misconception among students is that management is about mastering universal rules or "best practices," but I emphasise that management is deeply shaped by cultural diversity. I teach management as the study of how cultural, social, and institutional contexts influence leadership and strategy. Effective practices in one setting may not work elsewhere, so understanding these differences helps students develop the critical and inclusive perspective needed for international and cross-cultural work.

What I appreciate most about UCB students is their confidence, curiosity, and openness to new ideas. Their willingness to share perspectives and challenge assumptions, especially given their diverse cultural backgrounds not only enriches classroom discussions but also brings a valuable global dimension to learning. UCB’s strong, student-centred culture inspired me to teach here. I am passionate about supporting students as they grow academically and personally, helping them build the skills and confidence to think critically, collaborate across cultures, and succeed in global careers.

Students value my interactive classes and real-world business examples, which make complex concepts clear and practical. They appreciate my supportive teaching style and the inclusive environment I create, encouraging everyone to contribute and ask questions with confidence.

I would advise new students to embrace diversity and step outside your comfort zone. Arriving in the UK as an international student, I know language barriers and cultural differences can be intimidating. But these challenges often lead to the most valuable learning. UCB is a diverse and supportive community. Engage with people from different backgrounds; share, listen, and learn from new perspectives. This diversity enriches you academically, personally, and professionally. By embracing it, you’ll gain confidence, cultural awareness, and critical thinking skills that last long after UCB.

When supporting students who are struggling or overwhelmed, I focus on being approachable, understanding, and supportive. I encourage open communication and listen carefully so students feel comfortable sharing their challenges. I provide clear guidance and practical next steps, and, when helpful, offer alternative learning materials such as visual aids, simplified explanations, or real-world examples to suit different learning styles. My goal is to help students regain confidence, manage their workload, and feel supported throughout their learning journey.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes, which I find both relaxing and creative. It’s something I genuinely enjoy exploring in my spare time. I am also keen to learn more about AI, particularly how it can enhance work efficiency and support learning and teaching practices. I enjoy gradually developing my skills in this area alongside my academic interests. My colleagues may not know that I also love watching baseball.

My favourite quote is: "The best way to predict your future is to create it." – Abraham Lincoln.
