Profile
I originally studied Hospitality Management and joined the Trust House Forte Hotel group as a Graduate Trainee. I then moved to Burleigh Court in Loughborough, responsible for all hospitality and event provision in this purpose built conference centre. I also worked for Makro, Sutcliffe Catering and a Golf and Country Club, with responsibility for hospitality operations including corporate and promotional events and also the event sales department. After completing my teaching qualification I worked for Tamworth & Lichfield College as a lecturer in hospitality.
I first joined University College Birmingham in 2000. I specialise in Events Management and I am currently researching the effects of sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility and Ethics in the events industry. In my role as Senior Curriculum Leader for Events Management, I am involved in the planning and design of educational programmes ensuring the completion of the associated administration and quality assurance procedures. I take a leading role in the design and delivery of innovative programmes including the Masters in Global Meeting and Events Management, which meet the needs of the learner and industry whilst enhancing the reputation of UCB for teaching excellence. I co-ordinate programme teams to ensure the monitoring and enhancement of the quality standards of programmes including student recruitment, retention, achievement and satisfaction. As a member of UCB Teaching and Learning Group, I contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies, to ensure compliance with academic and vocational expectations.
