Read time: approx 3 mins
Teaching staff from across University College Birmingham will be coming together this week as part of plans for the future development of further and higher education.
Colleagues from all departments, disciplines and levels will share ideas and work collaboratively at the conference with a focus on sustainability, using digital technology and AI, alongside how our regional links can support our global impact. The day will see a combination of keynote speakers, workshops and interactive networking in the theme of shaping local and global sectors.
Tsai Lovett, Deputy Dean for Teaching, Learning and Digital, said of the conference:
“The aim of the conference is to bring together staff and students from across the institution to share good practice and look at how we are working together to achieve 'Pillar 3' of the Learning and Teaching Strategy 2021-24. In doing so, we celebrate our achievements in shaping local and global sectors, promoting sustainable futures and global citizenship.”
We’re delighted to welcome keynote speaker for further education staff, Emily Stubbs from Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, who will delve into how regional growth can be fostered through skills and provision and development. For professionals in higher education, Haili Huges from Iris Connect will share insights into identity and professional development for teaching staff, and how this can be nurtured.
Complementary workshops run in the morning and afternoon will give staff the opportunity to engage with topics closest to their professional interests. Towards the end of the day a marketplace and technology playground will give the opportunity for colleagues to chat and interact with an array of tools which the Digital Innovation for Creativity in Education (DICE) team use to enrich student experiences here at University College Birmingham.
