Country Specific Information - Pakistan

Iman Fatima
Business and Enterprise BA(Hons) Student

Entrepreneur Iman was always inspired by the idea of building something from the ground up, but her time at University College Birmingham gave her the skills and confidence to take the leap.

Now she runs a business, AIORA, dedicated to empowering Pakistani students by providing them with a global platform for business guidance and mentorship.

“I chose to study business enterprise in order to gain an understanding of not just how businesses work but how they are built,” she said.

“The University’s emphasis on practical experience allowed me to apply my classroom learning directly. My course gave me the confidence to take risks, knowing I had the knowledge to back up my decisions,” she said.

“It led to my launching AIORA, where I have even secured partnerships with entrepreneurs featured on major platforms like Dragons' Den and Shark Tank.”

With plans to study for a master’s degree and expand her business, Iman’s goal is to advocate for social change, and provide the next generation of leaders with the tools they need to build impactful businesses.

Country Specific Information - Sri Lanka

Sadurshan Raja
Accounting and Finance MSc Graduate

With over six years of experience in finance and accounting, Sadurshan chose to study MSc Accounting and Finance at University College Birmingham to deepen their expertise and gain international exposure.

Their experience at UCB was both academically enriching and personally transformative. The course’s strong focus on research, analytical thinking, and practical application helped them develop a broader strategic understanding of finance. Guest lectures from industry professionals, including HMRC and investment experts, provided valuable real-world insights, while studying alongside students from diverse international backgrounds helped build global perspectives and lasting friendships.

Throughout the programme, Sadurshan received excellent support from lecturers and the CASE team, particularly in developing academic writing and confidence.

Following graduation, Sadurshan secured a role as a Bookkeeper and Administrator in the UK and aims to progress into senior finance and management positions in the future. They highly recommend University College Birmingham to international students for its supportive environment, career-focused learning, affordability, and multicultural community.

Country Specific Information - Thailand

Savitree Chalieochart
Culinary Arts Management BA(Hons) Student

From a young age, Sav has always been passionate about food and hospitality, with a particular interest in both cooking and the business behind great dining experiences. This passion led them to study Culinary Arts Management at University College Birmingham.

The standout experience of their studies was completing a 12-month placement as a commis chef at The Landmark London. The role allowed them to gain hands-on industry experience, build confidence, and apply their learning in a professional kitchen environment.

Alongside academic support from lecturers, CASE resources, and wellbeing services, they also built strong friendships with students from around the world.

Reflecting on their experience, Sav believe's UCB has provided far more than a degree — helping them grow personally, professionally, and academically. Their long-term ambition is to one day open their own Thai restaurant in the UK, using the skills and knowledge gained during their time at UCB.
