GREAT Scholarships 2027 - Nigeria and Pakistan

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, University College Birmingham is offering GREAT Scholarships worth £10,000 to students from Nigeria and Pakistan for the September 2027 intake. 

The GREAT Scholarships 2027 programme, launched by the British Council together with over 60 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from around the world in accessing world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at over 60 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Applicants will be evaluated on their written application and prior academic achievement. Preference will be given to those with an outstanding academic record, such as a UK first-class degree or its equivalent.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for this scholarship, you must fulfil the following criteria:

  • You must have received and accepted an offer to study on a full-time Postgraduate programme at University College Birmingham starting in September 2027. Part-time courses, distance learning courses or other levels of study are not eligible.

  • You must have overseas fee status and be paying overseas tuition fees. Home fee payers are not eligible.

  • Be a permanent resident of Nigeria or Pakistan.

  • You must have paid at least £1,000 towards your deposit within 14 days of receiving your scholarship offer. Otherwise, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.

  • You agree to provide testimonials, feature in case studies and/or participate in marketing activities upon request.

How to apply

Applications for Postgraduate programmes starting in September 2027 will open in October 2026

 

  • Obtain an offer for a Postgraduate programme starting in September 2027

  • Submit your application for the GREAT Scholarship by 31 May 2027.

  • Include a personal statement of no more than 500 words outlining your achievements to date and how this scholarship and Postgraduate study at University College Birmingham will support your future goals. This statement can be submitted via the application link above. Preference will be given to those with an outstanding academic record, such as a UK first-class degree or its equivalent.

  • You will be notified of the outcome via email.
