Alex Jones

Graphic Design BA (Hons)

Letting creativity take flight

Alex has always been a creative person, so he decided it was important to study at a university that allowed those skills to flourish.

“UCB stook out to me because of the down-to-earth and genuine atmosphere created by the tutors,” he said.

“I could see that there was a lot of opportunity for expression with our work as we were incentivised to think outside of the box from day one.”

Once he started studying, Alex found the broad range of work helped him to grow in confidence as well as experience.

“The plethora of briefs means I get to attempt new things that challenge me and make me grow as a graphic designer. In only two semesters, we've covered numerous briefs with varying, unique tasks, including posters, infographics, and a mock D&AD contest” he said.

“Going out and visiting experts from the industry has given me a good idea as to how my future may look and has only made my future career in Graphic Design more promising, rather than intimidating.”

“Despite initial uncertainty, getting to meet several like-minded people has given me confidence.”

Looking to the future, Alex is unsure where his degree will take him, but he’s certain that his time at UCB has been key to opening doors.

“The skills I've learnt, and will continue to learn, will be stuff I carry for the rest of my life.”
