- Online support – digital resources to help develop your academic skills online
- In-class support - tailored academic support provided for specific groups
Academic Skills Centre (ASC)
Based within CASE, our Summer Row Academic Skills Centre (ASC) is open to all our further education students. Our Academic Support Workers provide a range of study-based support to help you discover your full potential.
You can book one 60-minute one-to-one appointment each week. This can be face-to-face or done by video conference.
The Summer Row ASC is located in SR 609.
"I use the ASC to help me complete my assessments effectively and get my work corrected. I am a fighting athlete competing in high level events and I need to train on a daily basis, so it takes a lot of stress off me at home as I can get work done here and receive really useful help. If I could give the ASC a rating, it would be 11 out of 10!"
Louis Owen Boxing Development Year 2 (NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Sport and Physical Activity)

What do sessions cover?
Sessions provided by the ASC are determined by what your needs are. This might include assistance with:
- Projects and assignments, including how to structure your academic work
- Writing essays, including using correct language and how your text should flow
- Tips on getting better grades
- Report writing skills
- How to get started with presentations – and ways to improve them
- Understanding feedback from your tutors
- Building a portfolio of work
Our support isn't just for students who may be struggling – we're also keen to help students who are already achieving good grades but are looking for advice to maintain and enhance their academic performance. Whatever your needs, our ASC staff will suggest strategies to help you improve.
