Inspired by industry, driven by experience
Passionate about engineering and determined to build a career in the sector, Easmay found University College Birmingham the perfect place to combine hands-on learning with academic study.
“I chose this subject because it matches my passion and future career goals. University College Birmingham stood out for its mix of practical learning and academic study, plus the strong industry links and student support,” they said.
“One of the highlights of my degree was the chance to learn in specialist facilities that mirror real industry environments, which really brought the subject to life.”
Opportunities to visit employers added to the experience, including a trip to British Airways for Engineering Day. “It gave me the chance to see the real working environment of the aviation industry and learn directly from professionals. I found it inspiring to see how theory from the classroom is applied in practice.”
The trip to the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Institute of Technology (GBSIoT) was another turning point. “I enjoyed using the specialist equipment and learning directly from experts. It helped me see how the skills I’m studying apply in real industry settings and inspired me to develop my practical knowledge for the future.”
Support from approachable lecturers and academic services, alongside friendships and involvement in clubs, made their university journey even more rewarding.
“My time at the university and in Birmingham was really rewarding. I gained practical skills, made great friends, and had experiences that prepared me for my future. My long-term goal is to become a skilled professional in this industry, contributing to innovative projects and continuing to develop my expertise.”
