Portia Foster

I qualified as a beauty therapist in 1991. I then worked in industry for 9 years. My roles included working on board luxury cruise liners, spending a period of time working in as a beauty therapist in Sydney, Australia and then returning to work in Birmingham and the surrounding areas. I achieved my Certificate in Education in 2004 but had been working full-time at a Further Education College since 2000. I held several positions within this role including team leader, Hair and Beauty Diploma Co-ordinator and Lead IV. I joined UCB in October 2014 as a full-time lecturer, where my key responsibilities are centred on my role as a mentor for the combined Hair and Beauty course. I teach across a range of programmes in Further Education and Higher Education within the department.
