University College Birmingham has been awarded four stars by a leading ratings provider evaluating hundreds of universities around the world.
It is the first time the University has received a rating from QS Stars, an internationally-recognised rating system which scores higher education providers across a wide range of categories, from teaching and facilities to inclusiveness and other specialist areas.
In addition to its overall four-star rating, University College Birmingham scored five stars in two of the individual categories, receiving the highest commendation for its facilities and inclusiveness.
"This achievement highlights the ongoing commitment of the University to support an inclusive student-focused education"
Jane Perry Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer
The University has invested more than £160 million over the past decade in creating outstanding training facilities and environments for a wide variety of subjects including nursing, physiotherapy, sport, aviation and tourism, finance and accounting, as well as developing brand new specialist facilities for engineering and construction.
As part of its mission statement, the institution also has a core commitment to widening participation in higher education and creating an inclusive learning community that meets the diverse needs of students, the economy and wider society.
Four stars were awarded across many other key criteria assessed for the QS Stars rating, including teaching, employability and academic development, as well as for the University's hospitality and leisure management provision.

The QS Stars rating follows further outstanding scores for the University in leading surveys recently, having been voted by our students as the University of the Year at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2022, as well as receiving the Best Student Support Award.
The University also received an overwhelming thumbs-up from postgraduate students in the latest Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey published late last year, scoring 92% overall – ten percent above the average score for the sector.
