Applying for February or September 2026?

If you are looking to apply for one of our undergraduate courses at University College Birmingham, the process varies depending on your circumstances and the course you are applying for. If you haven't already applied through UCAS this year and only wish to apply to UCB, you can apply directly to us, free of charge and without a personal statement.

We also believe nothing should stand in the way of you reaching your potential. If you have experienced difficult life circumstances, we offer different entry criteria through our Contextual Offer Scheme.

If you are currently studying one of our Level 3 college courses and wish to progress onto one of our university courses, please visit our Move Up To Uni page to apply.

Apply Direct

Apply Direct allows prospective full-time and part-time students who are only interested in applying to University College Birmingham, to apply directly to us (free of charge) without having to complete lengthy, and sometimes complex, application forms.

To apply direct to University College Birmingham, you must satisfy the following criteria:

  • You only wish to apply to University College Birmingham (if you would like to apply to more than one institution, you must apply via UCAS)
  • You must not have previously applied through UCAS this year (we will complete this on your behalf)

If you are considering only applying to us, there are lots of reasons why applying direct is the best option:

  • No fees - we will submit your undergraduate application to UCAS on your behalf
  • No need for a personal statement (UK/EU students only)

Applying through UCAS

If you would like to apply to more than one university, then you must apply through UCAS. This service is available to home, EU and international applicants. You can choose up to five different courses, and if you shortlist a course at UCB, you may require the below:

Application fees

To submit your UCAS application you will need to pay an application fee of £28.95 for up to five choices for 2026 entry.

When to apply

For September 2026 entry, the official UCAS undergraduate application deadline for UK and EU applicants to be guaranteed equal consideration is 14 January 2026. We can consider applications from non-UK/EU applicants up to August.

However, University College Birmingham does not close the application system after the UCAS application deadline. All applications received after this date will be considered and responded to.

Taking a gap year

University College Birmingham welcomes applications from people who are planning to take a gap year before starting their course. We are pleased to consider applications during the admissions cycle for deferred entry. If you are accepted, the conditions of your offer must be satisfied by the 31st August in your application year.
