Junessa Ongto
International Tourism and Hospitality Management BA (Hons)
Working towards a future in luxury
Junessa’s placement journey at UCB took her to a meeting with the Hired team, who helped her secure a year-long position at luxury country house hotel, Coworth Park.
“The support of the team alongside my placement mentors was invaluable throughout the process, from helping me prepare my applications and interviews to giving advice and encouragement every step of the way,” she said.
“Working in such a high-end hospitality environment gave me the opportunity to experience world-class service standards firsthand and develop professionally in an international setting.”
During her time with the Dorchester Collection hotel, Junessa worked as a food and beverage trainee, where she was enabled to put theory into practice while growing in confidence.
“It helped improve my communication and customer service skills, and learn how to work confidently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. I developed a strong understanding of fine dining standards, attention to detail, teamwork, and professionalism, all of which are essential skills for a successful career in hospitality and tourism, she said.
“Beyond technical skills, the placement also helped me become more independent, adaptable, and confident in myself.”
With burgeoning confidence and enthusiasm, Junessa is eager to forge ahead in luxury hospitality after graduation.
“This experience has given me a much clearer vision of the career path I want to pursue in the future.”
