Before entering the UK to study at University College Birmingham you will need to obtain a Tier 4 (general) student visa. To do this you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance of Study document (CAS) from University College Birmingham

How to request a CAS

New Students

New students can request a CAS from three months before the start of the course. Requests will be processed and sent to applicants or the agent supporting you with your application from three months before the start of the course.  Requests made within this time should be processed within 5-7 working days

To request a CAS you will need to:

  • Hold an unconditional offer for University College Birmingham
  • Have paid your tuition fee deposit. The amount will be outlined in your offer letter
  • In addition, you must also have complete and return the pre-payment policy
  • Provide a 28 day valid bank statement

CAS Request Deadlines

For courses starting end of January 2020, the CAS request deadline for students applying for their visa from outside of the UK is:

January 2020 intake

  • Last day for CAS: 17 January 2020
  • Last day for CAS: For countries where an express visa service is offered, the last day will be 31 January 2020
  • Orientation Programme will commence – 27 January to 31 January 2020
  • Teaching starts – 3 February 2020
  • Last day to enrol – 17 February 2020

Pre-sessional English (10 weeks) - 1 July to 4 September 2020

For our pre-sessional English programme starting in July 2020 the CAS request deadline for students applying for their visa from outside of the UK is:

  • Deadline for application: 9 June 2020
  • Deadline for CAS: 15 June 2020
  • Last date to enrol: 1 July 2020

Pre-sessional English (6 weeks) - 27 July to 4 September 2020 

  • Deadline for application: 3 July 2020
  • Deadline for CAS: 10 July 2020
