University extends links with China

November 2016

University College Birmingham was delighted to welcome a high-level delegation from a top Chinese university as the two institutions develop their relationship.

Senior academics from Hainan Normal University visited UCB following the signing of a memorandum of understanding earlier this year. Students based in Haikou, the capital of China's tropical island province Hainan, are set to progress in their education and training at UCB in business and marketing.

The Hainan delegation included Hongmei Li, Chair of Academic Council, Hainan Normal University; Juan Geng, director, Office of International Cooperation and Exchange; Yongqiang Pan, Dean of the School of Economy and Management; Zhenfan Sun, Dean, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; and Shuzhu Feng, Dean, School of Tourism.

The group was taken on a tour of the University’s main site at Summer Row and McIntyre House, the hub of undergraduate and postgraduate study, and dined in the student-run Atrium restaurant.

The visitors said they were impressed with UCB’s facilities and looked forward to developing a long-term relationship with the institution.
