Gain real experience through powerful placements
Getting real-world experience is the best way to boost your skills and help make you a standout candidate in your future career. Employers are on the lookout for people who already have experience working in industry before leaving education.

Expert support
You will have access to support from employability tutors who have knowledge of placements in your specific subject area. They will be on hand to help guide you before, during and after your work experience, providing information about what roles are available, employers who might suit you and guidance on how to be prepared for working in industry.
Here are just some of the employers with whom we have helped our students to secure work placements:
- Armac Martin
- GMI Construction Group
- MAK UK Chartered Certified Accountants
- Trilogy Trinity & Co Chartered Accountants
- The University of Law
- University Hospitals Birmingham (NHS)
- Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (NHS)
- Mondelēz
- Aston Villa Football Club
- Birmingham City Football Club
- The NEC Group
- West Midlands Police Firearms Unit
As part of my college course, I completed a placement at Birmingham Children's Hospital in the Heart Investigation Unit. I gained good experience of a cardiology department and the different investigations they carry out including ECGs, tapes, exercise test, CPEX and Echo. Near the end of my placement, I was allowed patient contact, which enabled me to practise my positioning and application of the ECG stickers and expand my knowledge of ECGs altogether. After my placement, I continued going into the hospital once a week to gain further experience. I'm pleased to say that I have since secured a full-time 12-month contract in the same department.
