On the way to making a difference
Aspiring social worker Duaa was drawn to her A-level choices by a desire to help people, and wanted to study in an environment that itself felt supportive.
“My A-level choices have helped me understand how society and behaviour work, which is key to social work,” she said.
“I decided to study at UCB as the staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and I could see I’d be allowed to explore my potential.”
Duaa has furthered her experience while studying by working as a student ambassador, and she feels this has been beneficial in the context of her future ambitions.
“Being recruited for the student ambassador job has been a real highlight of my time here,” she said.
“It has allowed me to develop my people skills and employability while studying and earning money.”
After finishing her A-Levels, Duaa is excited at the prosect of studying social work at university, but she’s mindful of making the most of the time she has left at UCB.
“I want to make a career helping people in the system who may feel underrepresented,” she said.
“I’m focused on my upcoming exams, but I’d advise anyone thinking of UCB to make the most of the opportunity– it’ll go by so quickly!”
