The home of student life
As soon as you enrol as a college or sixth form student at University College Birmingham, you'll automatically become a member of our Guild of Students.
The Guild is your students' union, an independent charity working all year round to help you get the best out of your time as a student with us. Led by a team of elected student officers, the Guild is run by the students, for the students.
Whether you're looking to meet new friends through a student sports club or society, have your say on issues affecting your studies or the world around you, or even want opportunities to gain work experience and leadership skills – there are all sorts of ways the Guild can help you get more out of student life at University College Birmingham.

What the Guild can offer you:

Find your people
We want you to feel part of a real community here at University College Birmingham. The Guild offers unique opportunities for you to meet new people and get involved in the things you enjoy.
We have a wide variety of clubs and societies you can join, from sports and hobbies to academic areas and other interests, giving you lots of ways to make new friends. The Guild also runs a range of events across the year, including our Welcome Fest for new students, 'crafternoons', table-top games and more. Check out the Guild website to discover the full range of groups and activities open to you.
Please note: if you are under 18, you need parental consent to join a student group. Students under 18 can join sports clubs, but are not eligible for national sports competitions.
You can find all U18-inclusive student groups on the Guild website.

We've got your back
We would like for every student to be able to engage in every aspect of life at University College Birmingham. Our Guild of Students is here to make sure you have your voice heard on the issues that matter to you.
We know you can't engage properly in your studies unless your basic needs are met. The Guild can signpost you to services you need and work with you to create student-centred approaches to tackling issues.
Every year we work with student representatives across all our courses so you can provide feedback on your academic experience. Our full-time officers have regular meetings with senior leaders at University College Birmingham to champion bigger changes our students are calling for.
The Guild also runs annual elections for students to become officers – any student can stand or vote in the elections, with winning candidates working at the Guild in the following academic year. If you want to learn more about how you can make a difference, take a look at our website.

Shape your life
We work with our students to help shape their lives and the world around them, as well as to achieve their personal best.
You can boost your confidence and contribute to a better tomorrow by getting involved in campaigns organised by the Guild. For example, we've previously campaigned on helping students cope with the cost of living, providing essential items to those in need.
We also offer opportunities for you to gain skills and experience through a range of roles working with the Guild. Find out how you can get involved by visiting our website:

"We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. I am proud to advocate for equality, promote mental health awareness and implement initiatives that enhance student wellbeing."
